About DCL
What is Digital Civic Learning?
Digital Civic Learning (DCL) is a classroom-based research project that involves designing social studies curricula to help students develop better social and civic competence and academic achievement, making them better communicators and learners. We are developing an engaging, Common Core Standards-compliant curriculum that can be used in elementary school Social Studies classes. The curriculum is developed in collaboration with teachers, researchers, and other specialists, and is based on 10 components of design principles.
